Jasmine Nicole Ivy was born on March 18, 1981. She departed this life and entered her eternal rest in the Lord on January 1, 2024.
Jasmine loved God and gave her life to the Lord at an early age. As an adult, while living in Indianapolis, Indiana, she joined New Life Worship Center under the pastorate of John Ramsey, Sr., where she was actively involved in the church’s prayer ministry and regularly attended service with her family.
Since her earliest moments in life, Jasmine was always well-spoken, a quick learner, and a diligent student. During her formative years, she attended St. Richard’s Episcopal School where she met and developed lifelong relationships that endured time. Jasmine graduated from North Central High School and attended Indiana University Bloomington where she majored in Journalism and Public Relations.
In 2012, Jasmine was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She also received a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Management and Urban Affairs.
In 2017, Jasmine completed her educational journey by earning a Juris Doctorate degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
Professionally, Jasmine was formerly employed by Bose McKinney & Evans LLP where she specialized in collective bargaining and was also an Inaugural Diversity Fellow-Associate.
Jasmine also worked for Indiana University of Health, Riley Children’s Hospital in Human Resources where she focused on employee engagement, talent and change management. Jasmine was well-respected by her colleagues as she always had a bright personality and showed kindness to all, even in the workplace.
One of Jasmine’s greatest accomplishments in life was being a mother, confidant, and friend to her daughter, Amarah Alexia Marie Ivy. From the moment of Amarah’s birth until Jasmine’s unexpected passing, she adored the gift of motherhood that God bestowed upon her and always sought to highlight Amarah’s achievements and greatness above her own.
Jasmine truly embodied the meaning of Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
To her family and close friends, Jasmine will always be affectionately known as “Jas.” Jas loved her family with all her heart and yet still had more love to give to new people coming into her life each year. She was fierce, practical, highly intelligent, and extremely competitive! Jas enjoyed singing, dancing, playing games, and writing poetry. She was creative, gifted, and immensely beautiful inside and out – all without ever losing the common touch. Her preferred attire on any day was a baggy sweatshirt and a hat, but she also loved attending formal events and getting glammed up for the evening!
To know Jas was truly to love her. Jas was her own woman and marched proudly, to the beat of her own drum.
