What could possibly be said to truly explain the extraordinary life of Jason Michael Bentley—a man who was, in every sense of the word, a legend. Jason’s story was one of survival, endurance, and strength. Born on October 12, 1984, Jason turned 40 just weeks before his passing on November 3, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, embodied most beautifully by his two daughters, Kayla Sye, 22, and Ava Bentley, 13.
Jason’s life wasn’t an easy journey, but it was a testament to the human spirit's relentless capacity to endure and thrive. He overcame challenges that most could scarcely imagine, and through it all, he maintained a strength that was both awe-inspiring and humbling. Jason was a warrior of the light—a light he never lost faith in, no matter how dark the world around him may have seemed. His story will forever be a guiding beacon for those of us who remain, teaching us to persevere with courage and grace.
Jason had an immense capacity for love and kindness. He was always the first to answer the call when someone needed help, offering his strength, his time, or simply his presence. He shared freely, whether it was laughter, wisdom, or a meal of his favorite three B’s—burritos, beefs, and breaded steaks. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the couch, cuddling with his family and watching horror movies—a pastime that revealed his unique ability to find comfort and connection even in the unexpected.
Jason’s dreams were as vibrant and big as his heart. He envisioned a life beyond the hustle and bustle of Chicago, dreaming of a 20-acre farm where he could grow food for his loved ones and future generations. His love of gardening was more than a hobby; it was an expression of his nurturing soul and his deep desire to provide for others.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Jason’s life was his ability to bring people together. He had friends from all walks of life, a testament to his open heart and unyielding kindness. No matter where someone came from, Jason welcomed them with a smile and made them feel like they belonged. His humor, his love, and his unwavering belief in people left a mark on everyone who knew him.
Jason’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he carried with him a profound message for us all. In one of his final moments, he reminded his daughter and partner of a simple but powerful truth: “Jesus wants us all to know to just love. It’s hard in this world to just love, but that’s what we have to do to ascend—just love.”
Jason Michael Bentley taught us the power of love, the importance of resilience, and the beauty of living authentically. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the incredible gift of his life. Let us honor his memory by loving as he did—fiercely, generously, and without reservation.
Rest in peace, Jason. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know you.
Jason's family, including his two daughters Kayla and Ava, his father Jimmie Bentley, his partner of 12 years Celeste Martinez, his brother Jeff Bentley and sister Jennifer Bentley are looking to raise money for his cremation and urn. At this moment, there are no plans for a wake.
