Honoring Jason Setser: Support His Family
Donation protected
Hi, we are raising funds in honor of Jason Setser for his family. Jason passed away last night owing to the impact of a heart attack. His infectious spirit, good will and booming voice will be sorely missed. He was always one to give more than 100% to his family, his community and Scouting. Jason was proud of his family home in Shaker Heights, even when the pipes burst, and even when the snow buried them in. His garden produced delicious tomatoes and peppers. When you drove by, you knew instantly what holiday season we were in. No one can replace his inspiration around the home, but we can help provide for the everyday upkeep with lawn care and seasonal maintenance like a snowplowing service.
In every family, a division of duties occurs. For the Setsers, their routines were fairly typical. Karen has been the most accessible parent for school and the daily activities of Emma and Colin, while Jason was the providing a steady foundation of income and security. As Karen’s world changes dramatically in the next weeks and months, she will need a financial base to draw from whenever the family has needs. For sure, there will be many unusual and unplanned expenses. It is our goal to create a fund that will relieve Karen of the financial stress of these unhappy surprises.
Jason and Karen had dreams for their family, even if they weren’t fully formed into plans. As the dreams change, we can help ensure that they aren’t lost by creating a fund that still gives Karen, Emma and Colin the chance to have special family times beyond the everyday: visits to far-away family, prom dress and suit, a vacation inspired by Jason’s love of his wife and children.
We cannot take away their pain. We can and should help them heal by removing obstacles to their well-being. Imagine if Karen didn’t have to worry about insurance for a new driver, tuition for a school that truly meets Colin’s needs, or expenses that come with the care of the family’s beloved pets. How much more her attention and energy could be focused on understanding and meeting Emma’s and Colin’s needs; how much more Karen would have the ability to begin healing from her own tragic sorrow. Always one to give a little more to his family, his community and Scouting, we are asking for contributions to help his family with this dreadful transition.
