Honoring Joan Madewell

Donation protected

The world needs more people like Joan Madewell.  She was warm, funny, kind and passionate about making this world a more caring place.  Joan was born in Anderson, IN and lived in Phoenix before moving to LaPlata, MD.  The pride of her life is her son Richie (35) who lives in Incheon, South Korea.

Joan was a part of so many great organizations in our area.   She gave her newly adopted home every hour she had, to help others.

Joan had just started a new job at the U.S. Capitol Gift Shop this September, which she loved. She loved sharing her love of this country with others.

But, on Friday, November 29, 2019, Joan suffered a heart attack at work, and did not survive.   She was just 60 years old.

We are raising funds to help bring her son Richie home to honor his Mom.  Despite the fact that they lived apart, they were very close and spoke often. As a teacher in Korea, this would be a great help to lessen the cost of traveling here and seeing to her estate. Any funds left would be donated to the Human Rights Campaign in honor of Joan.

Please share with those who knew and loved Joan. She was always there to lend a hand. Now it is our time to step up to help Joan’s son Richie.
