Honoring John Collins: Funeral Fund Needed

In loving memory of Johnny Paul Collins

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

Thank you for taking the time to read this, it means so much to me and my family. ♡

My name is Eileen Collins, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my beloved Husband, Best-friend, and the love of my life John Collins. He Passed away on Friday 8/9/24 at 7:25 pm. He was healthy and full of life when we had spoken at 7:00 am earlier that morning and then again at 4:00 pm right before my departure to visit him at Corcoran State Prison for our anniversary visit of being married for 10 years. His cell mates called me a few minutes past 7:00 pm stating that John had passed out after leaving his cell. He was rushed to the medical facilities within the prison and was pronounced dead at 7:25 pm. The prison did not reach out to me until around 8:10 pm about his passing. I was about 5 min away when I received the phone call from the prison. When I asked to see the body they told me there was nothing they could do, and I could see the coroner on Monday morning due to it being in the possession of Kings County. I wish I could have been able to see him sooner.

John Collins was supposed to have a resentencing in October after it had been postponed in May due to the DA not having the paperwork in order. It’s sad to say that my Husband could have still been alive if he would have been released sooner. Because based on evidence we had about John, He and I were going to fight to clear his name so he could be exonerated. We were so close to the next court hearing taking place in October 2024.

John was one of the most kind-hearted, generous people I've ever known, he was my soul-mate. He has always been the first to lend a hand, share a smile, or offer support to anyone in need. He would play together in a band with other inmates and have a blast! He was healthy and in great shape. He led so many men to know the Lord and receive salvation. He was a Pastor, Paralegal, Author and recently he became a peer specialist helping other inmates. He also helped to legally help inmates fight their cases to be released from their sentencing.

Due to my husband John’s untimely passing, his final wishes will be an expense that was not planned for because we were praying and believing he would be home already. At a family visit we had discussed he would want to be buried and I plan on granting those final wishes to my husband.

The funeral costs and final expenses are going to be a a financial burden.

I’m humbly asking for your help. Any amount, no matter how small, will go directly toward John's funeral and final expenses. Your generosity will help alleviate some of the stress and allow me to focus on what matters most—grieving the loss of my husband and granting him his final wishes.

I understand that not everyone can donate, but if you can share this page with others, it would mean the world to me. Your support, whether financial or simply through kind words and prayers, is invaluable.

I still plan on clearing my husband’s name and making sure he is remembered as a man of God who is innocent. It saddens me he won’t be here to call me all throughout the day anymore, praying together and having Bible studies. He was my best friend, we were married for 10 years and I will always remember how great of a man he was and all the laughs we shared together. I know he is with God right now.

Thank you from the bottom of heart for standing with me during this incredibly tough time. Together, we can help John to receive the burial he deserves.

With gratitude,

Eileen Collins and Family
