Honoring Johnathan Pineda: Support for His Family

My name is Joy Pineda, and I am 28 years old. It is with profound sadness that I am creating this GoFundMe to honor the life of my beloved brother, Johnathan Pineda, who tragically passed away at just 18 years old.

In the early hours of December 21, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., my parents answered a knock at the door of their home, only to be met by police officers delivering the devastating news of Johnathan’s passing. This heartbreaking news came just hours after we had celebrated his 18th birthday and just days before the Christmas Holiday.

While I cannot share the details of his passing, I can tell you about the incredible young man Johnathan was.

Johnathan was an excellent student and a wonderful asset to Buena Park High School. He began his high school career playing basketball and was a main contributor to the team's success in his first three years on the team. On the court was not the only place Johnathan excelled. He was an outstanding student and artist as well, maintaining a 3.6 GPA, taking honors and AP courses, and this past semester completing his first college course as part of the BP Early College Academy. Whether it be in the Agriscience program, in yearbook where he honed his photography skills, or within his classes, Johnathan was well liked and respected by his peers, teachers, and staff. He was exploring creatively outside of school as well through his music and fashion design. His passing is felt throughout our dear friends and family, the BPHS community and everyone else who has crossed paths with him. He will be greatly missed.
