Honoring Kyle's Legacy

Donation protected
Our hearts are heavy as we share the tragic news of the sudden passing of our beloved friend and family member, Kyle Schlatter. On the evening of July 20, Kyle, an avid motorcycle enthusiast, was involved in a devastating accident. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, his life was tragically cut short at the young age of 36.

Kyle was a triplet, born on November 23, 1986 to Pauline and James Michael Schlatter in Norwalk with his brother Christopher and sister Katlyn. He married the love of his life, Katie Marie Olsen on September 23, 2017 and they had a beautiful son, Wyatt James five wonderful years later. He was deeply loved by his family.

Kyle was not just a wonderful son, brother, husband, and doting father, but he was also a beacon of light to the entire community. He was a volunteer firefighter, bravely serving our community and risking his life for the safety of others. During the day, he worked tirelessly as a lineman for Eversource, and he was deeply dedicated to his work.

Above all, Kyle was the epitome of joy and positivity. He loved to joke around and his infectious laughter was a source of happiness for everyone around him. A passionate lover of the outdoors, he spent his spare time engaging in activities like boating, fishing, and motorcycling, often inviting friends and family to join him in these pursuits. Kyle was an Oldboy of the Fairfield Yankees Rugby Football Club and always proud to show you his tattoo representing the club. He was an incredible cook, delighting in the happiness that his meals brought to his loved ones. Kyle recently won the 2023 Georgetown Day Chili Cook off, of which he was unspeakably proud. If you had a few hours to burn, you could ask him for his recipe, after which you would be none the wiser but would have had a few laughs.

Kyle was a true renaissance man with an incredibly generous spirit. He was an accomplished tradesman, an electrician, wood worker, mechanic, the list goes on. He put all those skills to use lovingly restoring his home from the ground up with his father and friends. You could always count on Kyle to offer a helping hand, whether you were family, close friend or a stranger. At the Buttonwoods community in Rhode Island where he would spend his days off in the summer, Kyle was well known and loved as the local good samaritan, always willing to put his skills to good use, installing ceiling fans, hosting a bbq, or repairing electrical issues.

Today, Kyle's loss leaves a significant void in the lives of Katie and Wyatt, both emotionally and financially. Not only has Katie lost her life partner and best friend, but she now faces the daunting challenge of raising Wyatt without his father. Without Kyle’s income as lineman, paying for childcare and maintaining their home will quickly become an overwhelming task and creates significant financial uncertainty

This is where we step in as a community. Kyle spent his life serving others. Now it's our turn to give back. We as a community can find solace in preserving his legacy by coming together for Katie and Wyatt.

We are starting this GoFundMe to alleviate some of the financial stress from Katie's shoulders. The funds raised will go towards immediate and critical expenses, childcare, maintaining their property, and securing a stable future for little Wyatt. Your contributions, however big or small, can make a significant difference in their lives. Even if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network would be immensely helpful.

Kyle's light continues to shine in the love he left behind, and with your help, we can ensure that his love continues to nurture Katie and Wyatt. We will forever remember him as the goofy, loving, and brave man he was, and we will keep his memory alive in our hearts.

Let us come together and give back to the man who gave so much to all of us. Let's lift up the Schlatter family, honor Kyle's legacy, and show them that they are not alone in this journey.

Thank you for your love, kindness, and support.

Sincerely,

The Friends and Family of Kyle Schlatter
