Honoring Lorene Lawson: Memorial and Cremation

My name is Quanice Lawson, and I am the daughter and only child of the donor recipient, Lorene Lawson. In 2020, Lorene was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After chemo and radiation, the cancer later spread to the lungs, stomach, and now brain. She is said to have less than one month to live, and the Lawson and Thompson family want to celebrate her life with a cremation and memorial service as we spread the ashes in her home city of New York.

Before her diagnosis, she worked as a resident specialist at Eleanor Kennedy Homeless Shelter where she counseled and assisted homeless residents struggling with substance abuse and mental illnesses. Lorene's dream was to start a homeless program for youth in the area.
