Honoring Matthew Mark Lucas: Unexpected Funeral Expenses

Matthew Mark Lucas, known for his “larger than life” heart who generously gave his love and kindness, left us on October 14, 2024. He came into the world on November 18, 2002, the youngest of six children. All who knew Matthew felt his kindness, humor, empathy, and capacity to bring joy to those around them. Matt lived a life filled with tremendous passion and devotion to his family and friends.

Survived by his father and mother, Mark Joseph and Teresa Maria Lucas, his four sisters, Brittani Marie (DeCrescente), Sarah-Ashley (DeAngelo), Madison Brooke (Roberts), and Brooke Ashley-Marie (Lindemeyer), his brother, Joseph Mark Lucas, and Leah Fry. Further survived by his niece Lily-Ryan DeAngelo and nephews Desmond DeAngelo, and Blake and Isaiah Lindemeyer, Matthew loved his family dearly.

An esteemed alumnus of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA, Matthew played varsity baseball for all four years of high school, and youth and travel baseball and soccer for many years more. His character and selflessness made Matthew a fierce teammate and a role model in his community. After high school graduation in 2021, Matthew developed a passion for playing golf and cheering for the Baltimore Orioles. He excelled at both. He was a member of the Norfolk Tides baseball organization while attending school and serving his community as a coach and mentor for students at Norfolk Christian Academy and Kempsville Pony Baseball.

Matthew was a fiercely protective brother and friend to many, and a kind spirit who always showed love toward others. His loving smile, sense of humor, and beautiful soul will forever leave an impact on every person he met.
