Honoring Michael Simon's Legacy

Hello, my name is Logan Simon, and it is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my father, Michael Gerhard Simon, on 12/26/24. His loss has left an irreplaceable void in our family. My dad was not just a father, but the heart and soul of our family—always there with love, wisdom, and a smile. He worked tirelessly to provide for us, made countless sacrifices, and always put others before himself. His dedication to his family was unparalleled.
He leaves behind 5 children and my mother, his wife of 27 strong and loving years of marriage. He deeply valued us over everything and anything, and we will continue to do the same in his memory.
My Dad was a man of many passions. He loved spending weekends on the golf course, perfecting his swing, and sharing stories from his rounds with friends. His love for golf wasn’t just about the game—it was about enjoying time with others and challenging himself. He also had a deep affection for Star Trek and Marvel—whether it was watching his favorite episodes(over and over again), quoting lines, or debating who the best superhero was, my Dad always had a passionate opinion. His love for those worlds reflected his adventurous spirit.
Beyond those, my Dad had some simple joys that brought him immense happiness. He could never resist a good bowl of gumbo, his favorite food, and we always knew it would be the only meal he would suggest when asking what we should have for dinner. His love for ice cream was legendary—he would never turn down a scoop (or a pint) no matter what. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially no matter what game it was, and no matter the score, it was always about the camaraderie. As a huge music lover, he spent hours listening to old jazz, singing along to his favorite songs in our backyard, and sharing them with us. He wrote many of his inner musings down wherever he could, always thinking about how we all live, learn and love together. He was the most well spoken, thoughtful, yet perfectly silly dad we could have ever asked for.
Above all, my father was a hard worker. He spent his life making sure we had everything we needed, sometimes working long hours or taking on extra jobs to provide. Whether it was fixing things around the house, offering advice, or simply being there for us, he gave his all to his family. Now, we are working to give him the memorial he truly deserves.
We are asking for donations to help cover the costs of his memorial service, medical expenses, and other related needs. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean so much to our family. These funds will help us honor his life and ensure that his memory is celebrated in the way he deserves.
We are incredibly grateful for any support you can offer, whether through a donation or by sharing this page with others. Your kindness and generosity will help us focus on celebrating my father’s remarkable life. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Logan Simon and Family
