Honoring Mireya: Support for Her Memorial

The Betances family is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Mireya, who passed away after bravely battling an aggressive form of endometrial cancer. Mireya fought for an entire year with incredible strength and an unwavering will to live. Despite having Down syndrome, which prevented her from expressing her pain or understanding why this was happening to her, she always managed to smile and bring comfort to those around her—even as she was suffering.

She was a remarkable daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and her presence will be profoundly missed. Mireya was a talented artist at the NIAD Art Center in Richmond, CA, where her artwork continues to inspire. She loved dancing and singing at family parties, and cherished spending time at the track with her brother. Most importantly, Mireya and her mom shared an unbreakable bond; she loved her mother dearly and wanted her by her side until the very end.

If you knew Mireya, you knew she was the life of the party, with a vibrant and upbeat personality that was truly one of a kind. She always made everyone she met feel special with her genuine compliments and infectious joy. Her loyalty and warmth touched everyone around her. Mireya also had an undeniable love for food—everything was her favorite.

Her absence leaves a hole in our hearts, and she will be forever missed. With heavy hearts, we kindly ask for any donations to help cover the costs of her service.

La familia Betances está profundamente entristecida por la pérdida de nuestra querida Mireya, quien falleció después de luchar valientemente contra una forma agresiva de cáncer de endometrio.
