Honoring Nettye: A Pioneer's Final Journey
Donation protected
Nettye Handy Evans passed away on December 15, 2024, in Brunswick, GA. She has one son, Walter (aka Chuck), who lived with her. Chuck is in end-stage renal failure and is on disability. He requires dialysis three times per week. We are raising money to pay to transport Nettye back to Delaware to be buried with her late husband, Walter Sr., and to help pay funeral expenses. In addition, we hope to raise some money to help support Chuck for several months as he works out new living arrangements.
Nettye lived on Sapelo Island, Georgia, as a child before finishing her schooling in the Northeast. She was the first African American faculty member at Delaware Technical and Community College and also taught at Dover Air Force Base and Delaware State University. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) sorority and The Links Incorporated. Her husband, Walter, founded the John H. Porter chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen.
Please give in memory of Nettye Handy Evans to help her son, if you can.
