Honoring Olgita: A Legacy of Love and Kindness

Donation protected
Olga Iris Reyes, affectionately known as Olgita, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at the age of 84 in Mays Landing. Born on September 10, 1939, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, to her late mother Graciela Gonzalez, Olgita was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and thoughtfulness.

Olgita's life was marked by devotion to her family and friends. She is predeceased by her beloved mother, her daughter Maria Luisa Lleras, her brother Rudy Diaz, her cherished sister-in-law Hilda Diaz, her niece Gracie Jacobo, and her grandson Nicholas Lleras.

She is survived by her beloved Isaias Reyes of 41 years, her brother Edwin Diaz and his wife Emily, her son Wilfrido Lleras and his wife Nelyda Lleras from Mays Landing, and her son Alfredo Lleras from Egg Harbor City. Her love will continue to be felt by her grandchildren Jessica Kerstetter (nee Lleras) and her husband Joe, Natalia Nunez, Angel Lleras, Catalina Lleras, and her great-grandchildren Jayvien Nunez, Isaiyah Nunez, Joshua Hardesty, and Andriel Lleras. Olgita also leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly, including those she held close to her heart: Hildy, Angie, Alma, and Paul.

After studying accounting in New York City, Olgita dedicated fifteen years of her life to her family as a housewife. She then joined the workforce at Lenox China, where she worked for 22 years, building both a career and lasting friendships. Her colleagues remember her as a person who brought joy and care to the workplace every single day.

Olgita's interests painted the picture of a woman who cherished life's simple pleasures. She loved to travel and was always eager to attend family gatherings. In her younger years, she found joy in crocheting and keeping up with her favorite soap operas. She was an avid shopper, but above all, she valued the time spent with her family. Playing board games and cards with her loved ones was one of her most cherished activities. Her love for taking pictures ensured that these precious moments were captured for generations to enjoy.

Generous, thoughtful, and kind—these words encapsulate Olgita's essence. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate circle, as she touched the lives of many with her selfless nature. Her thoughtfulness was seen in the meticulous way she remembered every birthday, anniversary, and special occasion. Her kindness was felt in her daily interactions, always putting others before herself.

Olgita's battle with Alzheimer's was faced with the same strength and grace that she carried throughout her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and that her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

As we bid farewell to Olgita, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memories will be treasured forever. Olgita's legacy is one of love, compassion, and kindness—a true testament to the wonderful person she was. She may have left this world, but her light remains, guiding us through the memories we hold dear.

A Ceremony will be held by the family to honor Olgita's memory. Her life will be celebrated just as she lived—surrounded by love, with her family and close friends sharing stories and cherishing the moments that made her unique. Olgita Iris Reyes will be deeply missed, but her memory will never fade.

A Gathering with the family will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 2pm until 4pm at the Wimberg Funeral Home 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215, A Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home.
