Honoring Petronila Gil: Funeral Expenses

Our family is currently mourning the loss of Petronila Gil, our abuela, our last living grandparent, and one of the matriarchs of our family. She transitioned Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at home in the care of family.

During this very difficult time and the continued realities of the pandemic, we are raising money for the funeral costs and final services. As a woman who loved her campo and was a devout Catholic, our abuela requested to be buried in her hometown in the Dominican Republic and to be held in prayer and mass for 9 days. This 9-day ritual requires added layers of travel and planning & coordination from our family.

Our abuela hustled so hard in this life as a parent/grandparent and farmworker for most of her time - for us, so we want her to be able to rest in the way she has always deserved. We’d love to honor our grandmother’s final requests for her life and passing. This takes more resources than we currently have, but we also know that our chosen fam and community is BIG and here for us.
