Honoring Rogelio aka: “Kano” He was more than just a brother
Donation protected
Rogelio (aka: Kano, Roger) was one of five children from the Santiago household. We grew up in Daly City, CA, and lived on Abbot Avenue for decades.
Growing up, my brother always had a passion for music. That’s where his heart was, but he gravitated more to playing the drums and the guitar.
About five years ago, Rogelio had a near-death experience and discovered that part of his heart wasn’t operating as well as the other half, which was functioning at a level of 35%.
To make a long story short, he decided to venture out to the Philippines and live in the barrio/province where the quality of air and just overall life itself took on a whole different meaning compared to the fast-paced way of living out here. Years after, he finally married and had two sons, Joshua and Gideon.
Last year, he decided to come back abroad to find work to support his family back in the islands where he left them.
He initially planned to return to his family before his second son, Gideon’s, first birthday.
Sadly, my brother didn’t make it to Gideon’s 1st birthday, which would’ve been today, April 20th. His love for music, people and the family he left behind is now part of his legacy.
For all who has been a part of his life “thank you…and please keep his memories alive.”
*Info on his viewing (this Friday) is posted on his last photo.*
