Selena Mae Hedderick, 18 years old, passed away very unexpectedly on December 27 th
2024. She is survived by her Mother, Mandy Mernedakis; Father, Glen Hedderick; and
three Siblings: Brother, Tye Hedderick (23), and Sister -in-Law, Laura Hedderick, and
Sisters, Callista Hedderick (21), and Christabelle Hedderick (16), Granddad, Pete
Mernedakis and Grandma Carleen Mernedakis.
Selena thrived with creativity by making the most beautifully detailed art, decorative
spaces, and often gave her artwork as a token of her love. Selena had a sense of
humor that could make anyone laugh with her adorable wit and charm. She was honest,
outspoken and not afraid to stand up to anything. Her beauty shined on the outside, but
her loving and understanding ways were the core of her real beauty. But Selena, sadly,
battled with a lot of deep emotional pain, as well, suffering with depression, anxiety,
loneliness and acceptance. The emotional struggles she contended with deep inside
her, were delt with her outwardly in how she always gravitated to neighborhood strays
to help alleviate their pain, loneliness and fears by leaving out boxes of food, treats or
blankets. Selena spent her entire childhood caring and loving all her animals. She has a
black Yorkie-Poo-Teacup named Ella, long-haired grey cat named Gus and a dwarf
hamster named Cheese, and she loved nurturing them all. She never wanted animals
to suffer and feel the pain and loneliness the way that she had always struggled with.
But Selena fought a strong fight in the midst all her emotional ups and downs that
eventually totally and completely exhausted the “life” out of her.
But in the midst of all of her hurting she reached out to Jesus and we believe that she is
now safe in His arms, free at last.
Selena had strong passion for basketball church at her home church, Reynoldsburg
Nazarene. She loved being a part of the service and cheering on the guys and her
favorite player, Brooklyn Greer-“Brookie”. Basketball church was her favorite time of the
week.
The family is devastated at this time and are hoping for support with the financial cost of
remembering her in all the beautiful ways that we will now carry solely in our hearts.
Please help give her the funeral that she deserves.
