Honoring & Supporting Andy Karageorgiou

Recently, our beloved friend, teacher, and coach Andy Karageorgiou was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, for which there is no cure. Andy is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments to buy more time, but the side effects are taking a toll on Andy, and his family. Lori and Chloe are doing what they can to support Andy at home, helping to mitigate his pain. Meanwhile Danielle, Nick, and Jim are sending love and prayers from their homes.
As many of you know, Andy retired from teaching and coaching soccer in 2013. His impact on his students, colleagues, and players will live on forever.
Andy and Lori have spent the past seven years traveling and experiencing life together. From exploring his Greek roots to his home in Detroit to Alaska to New York to the Carolinas and so many more, Andy and Lori committed to living and celebrating life. They made their last trip to Aruba in March, only to have the journey squeezed short due to the arrival COVID19.
These past few months have been particularly difficult for Andy and Lori, and now they need our support. We want to help. We want to help fulfill Andy's wishes. We want to help Lori and the kids. There are expenses that we can help with. We want to give back to a man and family that has given so much to each of us.
We want Andy's legacy to live on. In order to do so, we will be starting a non-profit to provide annual scholarships to two BHS boys soccer players to pursue education beyond BHS named after Andy and Ted Seidel, Andy's close friend and legendary boys soccer coach at BHS. Ted passed away in 2015 due to complications from Alzheimers. This non-profit will continue to support the BHS boys soccer program year after year, ensuring its long term health and success - and honoring Andy & Ted's contributions to the Burnsville Soccer community.
Finally, Andy wants Ted to be recognized properly at BHS where the soccer practice fields were named in his honor in 2017. We are currently designing a plaque for immediate installation.
We are asking for your help. Any amount makes a difference. For those that donate $50 or more, you will receive a t-shirt that celebrates Andy's personal request, "appreciate each day you have, spend time with those you love and make sure you tell them this often - 'Love Life, Live Love.'"
Any funds raised above the goal will be directed to the family. Initially, the funds will be withdrawn into this account: Greg Holker, LLC. From there, it will be dispersed under the supervision of the Board of Directors of the Burnsville Soccer Support Group (Greg Holker, Danny Houck, Alan VanWyngarden). Once that non-profit organization is approved and the BSSG bank account is setup, all funds will move and be dispersed from BSSG directly.
