Honoring the legacy of Deleon Johnson
Donation protected
Class of ’98,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the untimely passing of our classmate Deleon Johnson. In short, Deleon was special. He was always energetic, always laughing, and always kind. I’m sure each of us share indelible memories.
Deleon was a father to a 6 year old girl named Niyama. I’ve been in contact with Deleon’s mother, Cheryl, since his death and it seems that Deleon’s family had some hardship which will likely continue.
I ran the idea of a class legacy gift by Cheryl as a way to honor Deleon’s legacy through his daughter. She has given me permission to solicit donations from our class to be deposited into an Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA) account in the name of Niyama Johnson. Niyama will have ownership of the account once she turns 23. In addition to myself, Justin Stewart and Deleon’s mother will have oversight of the account.
Please consider giving.
