Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Hailemichael Seyoum

A memorial fund has been established to honor the memory of Dr. Hailemichael Seyoum.

With great sadness, we share the loss of our dear father, Hailemichael Seyoum, who unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, mentor, and friend to many.

Our dad was born and raised in Asmara, Eritrea and had a love for education from a young age. He was one of the top students at the University of Asmara and came to the United States after college to pursue his education further. After receiving his Ph.D in Physics, he spent over 40 years as a professor, teaching thousands of students. As an accomplished physicist, he made significant contributions in the fields of nanotechnology, magnetism, atomic physics, and materials science, including over a decade as a research scientist at NIST.

He will be remembered for his kind nature and wisdom, who always put his family first in all decisions. He had a warm and welcoming personality, always ready with a joke to bring a smile to everyone's face. He was a proud husband to his beloved wife, Elsa and together, were devoted parents to their three children. All funds collected will be used directly for his memorial and funeral costs.

Thank you for your support and prayers. Our dad’s legacy is one of love, knowledge, and integrity. His presence changed the lives of many, and he will continue to inspire and uplift us all.

ብሮቡዕ 13 ሕዳር 2024 ብዘይተጸበናዮ መንገዲ ካብዛ ዓለም ብሞት ዝዓረፈ ክቡር ኣቦና ሃይለሚካኤል ስዩም ብዓቢ ሓዘን ንብዙሓት ፍቱው በዓል ቤት፡ ኣቦ፡ ሓው፡ መምህር፡ ፈታዊ ኔሩ።

ኣቦና ኣብ ኣስመራ ኤርትራ ተወሊዱ ዝዓበየ ኮይኑ ካብ ንእስነቱ ጀሚሩ ፍቕሪ ትምህርቲ ዝነበሮ እዩ። ኣብ ዩኒቨርስቲ ኣስመራ ካብቶም ብሉጻት ተማሃሮ ኮይኑ፡ ድሕሪ ኮለጅ ናብ ኣመሪካ መጺኡ ትምህርቱ ብዝያዳ ንምቕጻል እዩ። ብፊዚክስ ናይ ፒኤችዲ ዲግሪ ድሕሪ ምቕባሉ፡ ንልዕሊ 40 ዓመታት ከም ፕሮፌሰር ኮይኑ ንኣሽሓት ተማሃሮ ኣምሂሩ። ከም ንፉዕ ፊዚከኛ መጠን፡ ኣብ ዓውድታት ናኖቴክኖሎጂ፡ ማግኔቲዝም፡ ኣቶሚክ ፊዚክስን ሳይንስ ንዋትን ልዑል ኣበርክቶ ገይሩ፡ ኣብ NIST ንልዕሊ ዓሰርተ ዓመት ከም ምርምር ሳይንቲስት ኮይኑ ሓዊሱ።

በቲ ወትሩ ኣብ ​​ኩሉ ውሳነታት ንስድራቤቱ ቀዳምነት ዝህብ ሕያዋይ ባህርያቱን ጥበቡን ክዝከር እዩ። ምዉቕን ተቐባሊን ስብእና ዝነበሮ፡ ኩሉ ግዜ ኣብ ገጽ ኩሉ ሰብ ፍሽኽታ ንምምጻእ ብዋዛ ድሉው ነበረ። ንሱ ንእትፈትዋ በዓልቲ ቤቱ ኤልሳ ሕቡን በዓል ቤት እዩ ነይሩ ብሓባር ድማ ውፉያት ወለዲ ሰለስተ ቆልዑ ነበሩ። ኩሉ ዝእከብ ገንዘብ ብቐጥታ ንመዘከርታኡን ንዋጋ ቀብሩን ክውዕል እዩ።

ንዝገበርኩምልና ደገፍን ጸሎትን የቐንየልና። ውርሻ ኣቦና ናይ ፍቕሪ፡ ፍልጠትን ቅንዕናን’ዩ። ህላወኡ ንህይወት ብዙሓት ቀይሩ፡ ንኹላትና ድማ ከነቓቕሓናን ከልዕለናን እዩ።
