Honoring the Legacy of My Papa, Ed Begay
Donation protected
It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beloved papa, Ed Begay. On September 19, 2024, we lost a loving father, grandfather, and a truly cherished figure in the rodeo community. His legacy, his unforgettable voice, and the many contributions he made to the rodeo world will live on forever.
My papa was born and raised in Coconino County on the Navajo Nation, where he grew up surrounded by the traditions of rodeo that became his lifelong passion. His father, Mark, was a rancher and rodeo chairman, and from a young age, my papa was immersed in this world. For decades, he was one of North America's top Indian Professional Rodeo Announcers, proudly representing the All Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association. His powerful voice became a symbol of excitement, tradition, and joy at rodeos across the nation.
As the Master of Ceremony for events like the Indian National Finals Rodeo and the North American Indian Classic Rodeo, my grandfather touched countless lives with his warmth and professionalism. He was so much more than an announcer; he was a husband, a father, a mentor, and someone who brought color and life to every event he was a part of.
Now, my family and I are faced with the difficult task of honoring his memory and covering the costs associated with his memorial. We are humbly asking for your support to help us during this challenging time. Your donations will go directly toward memorial expenses and aid for our family, allowing us to focus on celebrating his incredible life and legacy.
Any and all support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us honor my papa's memory and for being a part of his journey. He brought so much joy to so many, and we will never forget the impact he made.
With Many Thanks,
The Begay Family
