HONORING TERRY'S LEGACY

As many of you know, beloved husband and father, Terry (Tari) Awan, passed away suddenly on Valentine's Day. Everyone who knew him could attest to his huge heart and willingness to help others. He went above and beyond for anyone who needed help, and was known as someone who took action and supported those in need. He was especially dedicated to supporting an orphanage in Kenya, having visited the children for the first time in 2010.

ABOUT THE ORPHANAGE:

In 2010, we visited an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. This orphanage was founded by the Islamic Foundation of Kenya and chairman Dr. Mohammed Sayied, Terry's son-in-law's grandfather. This orphanage is one of the few orphanages in Kenya, which relies solely on donations to support the children. These children are often brought to the center by strangers, not knowing their names or their families. This orphanage provides education and care-giving for these children ages 3 to 18. At 18 they are sent to college and the orphanage pays for the college tuition as well.
