Honoring the life of Guadalupe Chavez
Donation protected
It is with great sadness to share with you that on February 21st, 2021 the pillar of the Chavez family lost their loving father, grandfather, and brother, Guadalupe Chavez.
Lupe broke the mold, with his big heart and commitments to not only his family but to strangers who quickly became friends. Lupe a 45+ year resident of Redondo Beach made it his first of many goals to raise his 9 children in a loving and well rounded home after the passing of his wife and new born daughter during child birth. Using his everlasting faith and the instilled roots of his father before him, he worked hard to provide and even harder to always be present.
Lupe had nicknames for all his children, grandchildren and at times even their friends. As his children grew so did the amount of friends that found his home to be a special place to spend their adolescence. At times he would find his home full with not only his 9 children (then teens) but additional children from their neighborhood and fed every, single, one (even if they respectfully declined, they still ate). Lupe showed his love through many ways and in most through prayers and his fresh home cooked meals. As his children grew so did his family, eighteen grandchildren and he loved them all the same. Every Sunday meant a feast that could feed the entire cul-de-sac in which he lived on.
Lupe is their adoringly loved Apá, the example of what a perfect loving father is, dedicating his life to serve God, his children and grandchildren. He taught them the importance of their faith and as they departed after every visit he ended his farewells with, "Que Dios los bendiga." In translation, May God bless you. Lupe leaves an imprint in their hearts that only he could fill.
Lupe’s love also extended to his relatives, friends, and co-workers. His visits made at Three Kings Liquor to spend his leisure time scratching off lottery tickets in hopes for an exciting win to share with those around him will be one of many examples of his generosity. His love knew no bounds and as people are hearing of his recent passing, the generosity he once shared with many others has been asked in how the generosity can be returned. A Go Fund Me has been created to make it accessible to those people wishing to honor Lupe.
Guadalupe Chavez leaves behind his eight surviving children, and eighteen surviving grandchildren. He will be strongly missed by everyone who knew him and will be remembered with loving memories from those he left behind.
The family is left heart broken, devastated beyond measure after just recently losing Lupe's son, the eldest brother Martin Chavez. Through the depths of their sorrow his family has stuck together and found strength to live every day in their honor.
The family would like to thank all of those who have taken the time to reach out, drop off a hot meal, and those of you who have made visits during this difficult time, it has been greatly appreciated.
You are formally invited to share a special memory and the family has asked that in honor of Lupe you live every day with a great full heart.
Que Dios los bendiga. May God bless you.
