Honoring the Life of Johnny Ray Batts Sr.

Surrounded by family, enveloped in love, Mr. JB departed this world to walk with the Lord on March 16th, 2024. To understand who JB was as a man, we must first understand who he was as a father, husband, brother, and son. A man whose heart was pure as gold, and as soft as silk, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. JB was instinctually a protector, role model, and father figure to those even whom he did not share the same blood. My father was a man who would always make you smile when you were around him. Teeming with enthusiasm and positivity, he never had a bad thing to say about anyone or anything. You could feel the love and care in his voice and hugs that could cure the worst of pains. An honorable man, Mr. JB served in the army and obtained the title of Sergeant, something he valued and took immense pride in. His love for football and the New England Patriots radiated throughout our entire home. He loved to go to the Highland Springs High School football games every Friday night, to where he was recognized as a regular and known by those who attended by name. With my father's sudden passing, it has left a permanent void in our lives, and we are struggling to come to terms with his vibrant and infectious energy no longer filling our home. All proceeds received from the community's generosity will go towards supporting the Batts family and any additional funeral cost associated with putting my father to rest during this turbulent time. We thank you for honoring Mr. JB's legacy, and hope that he has touched your heart, as he did upon my family a thousand times over. We love you Dad, and we will miss you soldier.
