Honoring the Life of Rawnaq Ratin: Seeking Justice and Support After Tragic Loss
On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, our world was forever shattered. Beloved son and friend to many, Md Rawnaq Ratin, was cruelly taken from us in a senseless act of violence. At just 20 years old, Rawnaq was full of life, kindness, and a bright future ahead of him. He was more than just a son. He was a cherished friend, a loyal member of the Western New York & Buffalo community, and someone who brought joy to everyone he met.
On that fateful day, Rawnaq was involved in a confrontation over something as simple as a parking spot on Cedar Road in Cheektowaga. What started as a misunderstanding escalated into an unthinkable tragedy. A disagreement over parking turned into a violent encounter. As they tried to walk away, the man pulled out a gun, and in the blink of an eye, Rawnaq was taken from us. Despite the efforts of first responders, Rawnaq was pronounced dead later that day.
The community is devastated, and we are struggling to come to terms with this loss. Rawnaq had so much to live for, so many dreams, and so much love to give. He was a great friend, a kind heart, and someone who always tried to make the world a little brighter for those around him. Someone who was always dependable. I personally vividly recall a night when my car had blown a tire close to Rawnaq's home, and despite being 3 AM in the morning, he did not hesitate to tell me to go to his house so we could change into my spare. We cannot comprehend why anyone would want to harm him.
This is more than just a senseless act over a parking spot. We fear that this might be rooted in something deeper, possibly a hate crime. We are praying for justice for Rawnaq and that the truth will come out. With no arrests having been made yet, We are seeking justice to help us find closure.
In this time of unimaginable grief, We are turning to our community for support. Losing Rawnaq has left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled, but I can only imagine the financial burden upon Rawnaq's family. Funeral expenses, legal fees, and other costs are overwhelming as we try to give Rawnaq the memorial he deserves and fight for justice.
We are asking for your help during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, will go toward honoring Rawnaq’s life and supporting his family as we navigate this painful journey. We know that Rawnaq touched many lives with his warmth, humor, and compassion. We are grateful for any support you can offer, whether it be through donations, prayers (dua), or sharing his story.
Please help us in remembering Rawnaq for the wonderful person he was and in seeking justice for the senseless act that took him from us far too soon.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us during this time of sorrow and pain.
May Allah grant him Jannah Al Ferdous and forgive any sins he has committed.
*All Donations Will Be Given To The Father Of Rawnaq Mr. Mdataur Leton *
