In the Waskesiu Lake of Prince Albert National Park, tragedy struck unexpectedly for 23 years old, Yuren Patel, an immigrant of Surat (India) origin. Officers said they received several calls around 3 p.m. about a man in distress in the water. EMS declared the man dead at the scene.
On July 14th, Sunday, Yuren and his friends had went to enjoy the weekend at lake. Yuren and his friends went swimming by the Waskesiu Main beach. Yuren was a good swimmer, but unfortunately he went a bit deeper into the lake. Due to high water current, he panicked and started drowning. One of his friend attempted to help him but was unsuccessful. Yuren's body was removed from the lake and declared dead by paramedics.
As per our cultural and religious beliefs, it is Kamleshbhai's (Yuren's father) earnest wish to perform the last rites and cremation of Yuren in their homeland, back in India. But they face the daunting task of arranging for Yuren's final journey home. This GoFundMe campaign aims to provide financial relief to Yuren's family, easing the burden of financial expense and allowing them to honor his memory in the most dignified way possible. I (Yuren's friend) am available to provide any further information or clarification that may be required.
Your generous contribution will not only support Yuren's family during this difficult time but also celebrate the life of a remarkable young, hardworking, promising man whose light was extinguished far too soon.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Yuren leaving behind a shattered community of friends and a devastated family across the seas. His infectious smile and unwavering determination to succeed in his life and contribute to his community will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
