Donation protected
It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dad, Glen Davis Logan. He touched so many lives as a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, colleague and friend. Glen will always be remembered for his unlimited capacity to love people, to be there for them no matter what, for his perseverance, for his ability to figure things out and getting things done and for always being a helping hand to those in need. Us, his kids; we remember him for his unending love and support that we felt living in any corner of the world, knowing he would do anything that will help us in our moment of need and that he will come and be by our side, whenever and wherever we need him.

Our dad passed away in a motor vehicle accident, on October 2, 2024, leaving our mother Mrs. Debbi Logan, who has been a home maker most of her life, with unexpected expenses in addition to the grief of losing her partner of 48 years. We are organizing this GoFundMe campaign as a memorial to honor our dad and to raise money to help with the funeral and burial expenses and ease financial stress during an already difficult time.

Funeral details: Visitation was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, October 5, 2024 beginning at 9:00AM. Funeral Services were held at 11:30AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New Iberia. Interment was at Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery after the service.
For those who want to help, contributions here will help offset funeral cost. All additional funds will go towards helping our mom Debbi, navigate this uncertain time. Thank you for all your love and support for the Logan family during this difficult time. Feel free to share this GoFundMe link with anyone looking for ways to give.

We love you, Dad. Thanks for all the great memories.

A bit more about Glen D Logan.

Glen Davis Logan was born August 31st, 1956 in El Paso, Texas, the only son and oldest child of DS Logan and Sondra Joy (Finch) Logan. Glen grew up working on the farm, driving tractors, baling hay, and – like every farm kid – helping with any and all of the chores required to keep the farm running smoothly. Glen had a keen interest in tools and machinery. By the time he was 12, he had put together his first motorcycle. At the age of 20, he was the only certified Bobcat mechanic in several counties in Texas, New Mexico and in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.

While attending Socorro High School as a senior, Glen met Debbi Sue Retherford and within 3 weeks of the start of school they were going steady. A year after their graduation, on May 21st 1976, Glen and Debbi were married.

Just like Glen figured out a way to keep any machine working for years and even decades; famously in 48 years since marriage, our parents are only on their second refrigerator; he figured out a way to support his family any which way was necessary. Over his lifetime, he worked as an ice distributor delivering ice, at a restaurant supply company, at a truck center working on semi-trucks, at an auto supply company and eventually he took on a job in the oil fields which turned into a lifelong career. He initially worked in the oil fields for Totco Tools in Hobbs, New Mexico followed by as an employee of Schlumberger Well Services in New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio and Louisiana. Eventually Glen started his own enterprise working as a consultant in the oil fields. Glen touched the lives of countless people in different parts of the country due to his job transfers, always bringing his family along with. Glen was always the best hands-on man, and had answers to any and all questions related to oil field and its operations. His tireless work ethic, dedication, honesty, determination and trustworthiness won over his colleagues and competitors alike. Industry leaders, colleagues and peers respected Glen and relied on his expertise.

In his community, Glen was universally loved and respected by all who knew him. He served in many capacities in the church, including as a scout leader, home teacher, and member of Branch Presidencies. He taught young men’s Sunday School classes and served as young men’s leader. He offered his help and assistance to people with his whole heart.

In his personal time, he loved working on cars and flying radio-controlled airplanes and drones and riding his motorbike. He delved into wildlife photography, mainly taking pictures of birds for his wife Debbi’s love for birds. But his greatest love was his family. He was a father most people dream of, teaching his kids and grandkids through example, the invaluable virtues of self-discipline, hard work, honesty, self-belief and optimism. He taught them to aim high and work hard, constantly spent time with them to guide them to become better humans. Most of all, Glen loved his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of the men and women they became. He bragged on his children every chance he got. He called them frequently and was a big part of their lives. When each of the nine grandchildren were born (6 girls and 3 boys), Glen was on hand for blessings, baptisms, school and sports events, birthday parties, and keeping kids while parents were out of town. Family meant everything to Glen, and he looked forward to spending eternity with his family.
Glen died in a car crash that happened around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, in the 900 block of S. Morgan Avenue in Broussard, Louisiana.

Glen is survived by his wife, Debbi (Retherford) Logan, daughter Michelle (Matt) Check, son Jeremy (Lauren) Logan, daughter Amanda (Ashu) Naaraayan, daughter Melanie (Zak) Livesay; grandchildren Riley Kiggans, Caitie, Lilah, and Logan Check, Cameron, Kelsey and Maverick Logan, Phoenix and Collin Livesay; mother, Sondra (Finch) Logan; sisters Tess (Tony) Hisaw and Dee (Doug) Cristina, nephews Justin Cutrer and Adam Milton and niece Aimee (Cutrer) Sills, along with 9 great nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law Jan (Grimes) Retherford, and brother-in-law Rick (Heidi) Retherford.

We hope this detailed timeline will help you get more of a look into of our dad’s life.

May be the best way to describe our dad is as a man who loved everyone he met whole-heartedly. Those who have had the good fortune of meeting him, know that he always gave his best to help them with the situation at hand. And for his selfless love, involvement, warmth and kindness, he was universally respected, admired and loved, be it by his family members, church members or his colleagues and competitors at work.

Thank you for coming together to remember our dad. Your support means the world to us, and it’s a testament to the meaningful relations dad shared with all of us. Together, we can celebrate his life and keep his memory alive.
