Honoring Tim Hartman & supporting his family
Donation protected
Tim Hartman unexpectedly passed away on February 14th, 2025. Tim was a deeply loving friend, a father to two young girls, and he approached most of life with uncommon curiosity and a deep sense of humor.
Supporting Tim's family
We (Tim's non-biological brother Nathan and his family) have setup this fundraiser to help pay for his cremation, celebration of life, and various associated costs related to end of life planning.
The funds will be used to pay for these costs with any remaining funds being disbursed to his two daughters.
Tim's passing
The man was full of life, eager to help friends in need, and he was not shy.
So, in the spirit of Tim's boldness and directness, I'll share that he was increasingly open about his struggle with addiction. He was increasingly open about the traumatic aspects of life that fueled his bouts with addiction. And he routinely recommitted to sobriety when he relapsed. The clarity and openness in which he spoke about his struggles was inspiring.
Tim's sudden death, the result of an accidental drug overdose, is an upsetting shock to all of us. It's unfair, it's anger inducing, and it's tragic. My guess is that Tim too would be upset with this outcome.
As we collectively grieve Tim's passing we begin a new chapter in his life. A chapter based in memories and in honoring his spirit.
This final chapter is written by us, his community.
We write it by remembering how Tim's presence made us feel. We write it by sharing stories that capture his personality. By recalling his kindness, quick wit, and his desire to learn and then share what he had learned. By embracing any emotions that surface and allowing them to be present and to be fully felt. And we write this chapter together by supporting one another and practicing kindness, even when its hard.
To all of Tim's family, friends, and acquaintances, we love you. And to put it in what I imagine would be Tim's words on all of this: "This [expletive] sucks."
