Honoring Valerie Christian's Vibrant Life

Donation protected
Hey All, This is Sara or Suki here. My Beloved sister, Valerie Christian died on 9/01/24 and joined her daughter, Sandra Lee. Valerie was born on 7/11/63 (although for most of her life we celebrated it on 7/9/63). Val was born to Party and Have Fun! She didn't crawl like other babies, she scooted. Before she walked around two, she DANCED!

Our mother died when she was 12, so after our oldest sister, Pami moved to Anchorage, Val took care of my brother Koodook (Jerome) and I (Suki or Sara). And it was a fun upbringing. I remember checking to see how I felt at the end of the night, if I felt good, I would be a half hour late or more. Why do you ask? Well, Val would have me do either sit-ups or push-ups for every minute that I was late. I tell you, I was in GREAT shape!

At the age of 15, Val gave birth to her only child, Sandra Lee. Val loved her with her whole heart. We use to say that Sandy was her little angel. In time, Sandra was. Sandra died on August 26 2013 and Valerie visited her a few times a year, for the last 11 years.

Valerie was very proud of her Native Heritage. She love to hunt, berry picking and especially fishing. Every year for the las 15 or so years, she would call me up and let me know that her and Gene would be out fishing!

Val had Life long friends with Chugie, Nina, Trihn, and Muffin. When the five of them lived in Nome, there was nonstop laughter, parties and just fun times. Over the years, Val had stayed in Contact with Chugie.

Val had made new friends with Queen and Barb. And was always with one or the other.

Val was fortunate to fall in love five times, with Fred, Matt, Edwardo, RJ, and finally felt and found the fondest love with Gene who was her Best friend. Val was so happy with Gene, and said this is the one and only. Which he was.

In the Year 2000, Valerie became so excited to become a grandmother. And in October of 2000 she did to Sheranda Valerie Oliver. With Sheranda, Valerie was very proud to give her love unconditionally. Val was constantly saying "I need to show this to Sheranda and Gene"....

Valerie Died in her home on 9/1/2024.

She was survived by Sister Sara, and Granddaughter Sheranda and Significant Other, Gene. Nieces Yolanda Apted, Ashley Christian and Rebecca Barreck.

She was proceeded by Mother Martha Trigg, Biological Father, Earnest Overand, Adopted father Jerome Trigg Jr. Daughter Sandra Christian, Brother Jerome Trigg 111. Sister Pamela White.
