Honoring William Cantu: Support Funeral Costs

When I think of my Uncle Willie, I recall him on stage at the Santa Maria Fair Grounds performing the song "Johnny B. Goode," and I was star-struck! He reminded me of Michael J. Fox in the film Back to the Future. This is not my earliest memory of him, but it's the one that sticks out the most. I was between 11-13 years old and knew he had a greatness about him. He was the coolest on stage and off stage. Although I have many more memories of him, this is my favorite because this is who he was, at least to me.

William Cantu, born October 23rd, 1960, in Harlingen, Texas, to Lucille and Fernando Cantu, was the last son and child of the Cantu 10.

Growing up, Willie enjoyed playing music with his siblings and getting into the same mischief as his older brothers. I believe what he loved the most, besides his parents, brothers, and sisters, are/were his children: Cassandra, Joshua, and Katherine, and his grandchildren.

There are so many memories of staying the night at Uncle Willie's home with my cousins and having the best times. Thank you for those beautiful times, Uncle Willie.

William Cantu is survived by his sisters: Tina, Lucy, and Yolanda. Survived by his brothers: Rolando and John. Survived by his children: Cassandra, Joshua, and Katherine, and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Lucille; his sister, Teresa; and his brothers: Rodrigo, Fernando, and Andrew.

William left us on October 10th, 2024, in the comfort of his sister Lucy's home.
