Honouring Juanita Owl's Legacy: Support for Funeral Services

This GoFundMe page is for Juanita Owl, baa, a beloved member of the Niagara Indigenous community, who passed away on April 1st, 2025.

Her son, Richard Berak, is responsible for her final arrangements and needs assistance with funeral expenses, estimated at $7000. The funds will cover Juanita's funeral and burial at her home in Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, under the care of Bourcier Funeral Home.

Juanita was renowned for her exquisite, handcrafted beaded items and her kind, yet sassy, nature. While she would have been modest and Richard is hesitant to ask, this GoFundMe aims to help give her a proper send-off that reflects her life and contributions to her community.

A Celebration of life will be hosted by Niagara Regional Native Centre at a future date to be determined.
