Hood in Ohio Emergency Fundraiser

I am Tomas Hood, a US Army Veteran with disabilities. I'm currently unemployed due to a layoff last Thanksgiving week (2023). Unemployment HAS run out (beginning of June). Leigh Hood is disabled, as well, and cannot work.

Our needs are insurmountable without help. We are asking your help to get these essential needs repaired:

1. Our water heater is broken. We are told we need a new unit. That will be costly both for labor and the new unit ($500 to $1,000).

2. Additionally, we have need to pay out-of-pocket for some expensive medications for my wife, mostly, and me. I am on VA medical benefits, but I cannot cover my wife until we have employment.

I am actively interviewing for jobs, but they are hard to land, due to current economic trends. Since late 2022, over 400,000 tech jobs (jobs like mine, in which I am a senior software engineer) have been cut.

Since the start of 2024, alone, an additional 90,000+ tech Jobs have been cut in addition to the past two years! That means there are a LOT of us without work, and all of us vying for the few jobs available (as in thousands are applying for the same jobs).

Would you please consider helping with some amount, to get us back above ground, especially with the failed water heater situation? We truly appreciate your kindness.
