My name is Fatema Hmaid, a 24-year-old woman from Gaza, Palestine. I am writing to share my story and seek support during this unprecedented crisis in my homeland.

Everything changed suddenly for me this year. I was on the brink of realizing my dream of becoming a doctor in Human Medicine, but the recent events in Gaza have shattered those hopes. The ongoing crisis has left me worried about my future, uncertain whether all my hard work and dedication will be in vain.

To add to the challenges, my parents had traveled before the war started, leaving me to navigate through these horrific days without their presence by my side. The situation in Gaza is dire, especially in the north where I live, with limited access to essential resources like food and water.

I have experienced the tragedies of evacuation firsthand, from fleeing my home under the sound of bombshells to searching for safe shelter amidst the chaos. The intensity of the bombing forced my family and me to leave our home, carrying only the essentials. We found refuge in a nearby school, but we lacked necessities like water, electricity, and food.

Now, I am reaching out for help evacuating my brother to Egypt. The cost of evacuation alone amounts to around €6000 per person, including transportation and settling down expenses for the initial days. This fundraiser aims to provide us with the means to reach safety and start anew in Egypt.

However, I understand the importance of transparency and compliance with fundraising guidelines. We are seeking support solely for evacuation and resettlement, not for any involvement in armed conflict efforts. The funds raised will be used exclusively for our journey to Egypt and our immediate needs upon arrival.
