Hope Amidst the Rubble: Supporting Ibrahim and His Family

Donation protected
Hello, dear supporters! My name is Ibrahim Badra, a 22-year-old translator graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza. Today, I reach out to you with a heavy heart, as the place I once called home has been devastated by circumstances beyond my control. My life, like so many others here, is woven with stories of love, loss, resilience, and the unyielding hope for peace in our war-torn land.

Growing up in Gaza City, I had natural aspirations like any young person: education, a career, and the hope for a peaceful life. I was on track to pursue those dreams, eager to pursue my MA in a European country, driven by a strong desire to honor my family, especially my dead father. My life, like so many others here, is woven with stories of love, loss, resilience, and the unyielding hope for peace in our war-torn land.

Our home before and after destroying by an air strike of Israeli occupation, as war swept through Gaza, our lives were turned upside down. The airstrikes, the terror, the grief... it's a reality that's difficult to put into words. Our family home, our cherished memories, and the sense of normality we held onto were destroyed in a moment, our beloved home, a symbol of our efforts and love, was completely DESTROYED in this war, leaving my family and me homeless without any possessions. I find myself and my family with nothing but the clothes on us and a few identifying papers in our back bags. We were displaced more than 13 times. In addition, the relentless bombings and airstrikes have reduced our cherished memories to rubble, leaving us displaced with nowhere to turn.

We fled to different places in Gaza Strip such as Gaza, Khan Unis, Rafah, and now in Dair Al Balah in search of safety. However, safety becomes a relative term when living in a tent, facing shortages of food and clean water, and the constant fear of disease and airstrikes. It's a life that no one should have to bear, testing our resilience every day.

In Deir Al Balah, before a while when we fled of the tents due to a special Israeli forces storm the places of the refugee camps, and lunch a random fire. One of the random bullets was targeting me but hit with an iron pole of a tent behind me.

I graduated last year in English-language literature and translation. I had a dream and was looking for a MA scholarship, but the war came and took every dream with it.

In the face of such adversity, we refuse to succumb to despair. We are determined to rise above the ruins and rebuild our lives, but we cannot do it alone.

My mother, Fayza, battles high blood pressure, and her necessary medications are no longer available in Gaza. I graduated recently in 2023, majoring in literature and translation of the English language. I had a dream to complete my graduate studies and obtain a master's degree or get a scholarship in one of the European countries, but the WAR came and took every dream with it.

In the face of such adversity, we refuse to succumb to despair. We are determined to rise above the ruins and rebuild our lives, but we cannot do it alone. This campaign is my cry for help, a plea to the global community to not just watch from afar but to lend us your support, your voice, and your solidarity. It's a call for justice, for the recognition of our humanity, and for the chance to live in peace.
