HELP BUILD TOMMY STUTZ A HOUSE OF HOPE
Hello everyone, my name is Elizabeth. I live in a small rural community near the Tennessee River at Pickwick Lake. This fundraiser is for a friend who lost 100% of his vision from an ATV accident.
Tommy Stutz is a kind, honest, hardworking gentleman with a generous heart. Tommy worked as a handyman for many people in our community. His clientele were made up of retirees, widows, and people who worked non-stop to afford a tiny house near the lake. He also managed a few large estate homes on the lake. Tommy is a man they could depend on. People relied on Tommy's mindfulness and caring sensibility. In a business where people are often taken advantage of, people could trust that Tommy would always get their needs met and at a reasonable price. Personally, I always admired Tommy for his work ethic and generosity. He was always trying out new people to work with him. He gave many young people a chance to prove themselves worthy, and most fell short. He worked hard and his customers relied on him. Integrity is what I like most about Tommy Stutz. He is the guy that would find your wallet and then return it with all your money.
Earlier this year, Tommy had been in a life-changing accident. The accident was absolutely horrific, so I will not be too detailed. He had a 4-wheel ATV he loved to ride when he found some time off. He had attempted to run up a very steep hill he took as a challenge, as did the locals that rode in the area. The bike reared back on top of him and slid back down the hill with Tommy pinned underneath and with his face being torn off with it. He was airlifted to Med Plex in Memphis. It was a miracle he survived. With his South Georgia family by his side, he went through many surgeries to reconstruct his face and hopefully save one of his eyes. The other had instantly lost its vision. He had over 2,700 bone fractures in his face and head. His face was completely reconstructed. His eyes were completely detached on impact. His family by his side praying day and night. The doctors had told them to prepare for the worst because they didn't believe anyone could survive these injuries. He grew stronger everyday. Tommy is a true survivor. His entire face had been reconstructed after hours and hour of surgery. He unfortunately will never be able to see again. Tommy now has lost 100% of his vision. He's so brave. Tommy has the best attitude. He has accepted his fate and is ready to begin the journey of a man with no sight. He appears fearless and determined. I can't help thinking how afraid I would be right now if it were me. He doesn't know how to do this, but he's taking this new challenge by the horns and fearlessly ready to move forward. There is a lot to learn or teach yourself when you suddenly can't see anymore. Tommy lived in a place off the highway that he rented for several years. After spending over 2 months in the hospital and having no income, he was asked to vacate the premises. Just 2 years ago, he purchased a small piece of land here near the lake. He planned to build a cabin and a workshop and eventually retire there. He is now living there in a small camper that his family has given him to live in until he gets back on his feet. When is that going to be? How is he going to do that with that small disability check? How will he feed himself or cook or pick out his clothes? All those things we take for granted. He needs to put it a septic tank. Set up a power pole. He's using a generator for all his power.
Money! We need money to build Tommy a tiny house built on his property in the woods.
Tommy needs a home. He needs a home where he can move around safely. A home that is custom-built for a sightless person. With braille on appliances and marked cabinets and utensils, he will learn how to cook for himself again. Marked floors so he doesn't become disoriented. A place where he feels safe and secure. We want to give some quality to his life again. Give to Tommy what he gave to so many for years. We need to build him a home that will encourage his independence and give him an opportunity to rebuild his life. Any donation is greatly appreciated. These funds will be appropriately used to build this tiny cabin in the woods conducive to his needs. This home will enable him to be independent once again. This home will give him the confidence he needs to keep moving forward with a positive outlook on life.
I'm praying this venue is the way to reach the generous and giving hearts needed to fulfill this wish for Tommy. A new beginning to a fulfilling life. Please help us give Tommy hope for a future. Any questions I will gladly answer. These donations of love are precious to us and will be wisely distributed to make this wish come true. Thank you to all the angels out there that help us achieve this goal. I will be glad to send photos and videos of the progress. Yours for the asking. Thank you again in advance and bless your heart.
