Hope and Healing for a Gazan Family in Crisis
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I am Asra, an American from Dallas TX advocating on behalf of my friend Bilal Ahmed Hamad Abu Hamad ( ig: blalabwhmd16 ) from Gaza, Palestine. Bilal is a husband, a father of three beautiful little girls (one of which is in infant) and is also caring for his elderly mother.
Since the beginning of the genocide, Bilal has been forced to move his family from territory to territory and is currently living in an open-air tent with no furnishings, water or floor. They have no way out except through our generous donations. Bilal and his family urgently need your help to escape Gaza. Any funds rasied are strictly for survival until they can be used for evacuation and travel out of Gaza, once the borders open again. Your donation is the deciding factor between life or death for this family. Our power is in numbers, so please consider donating an amount equivalent to a cup of coffee, a negligible cost that will feel like nothing for you, but mean everything to them. If you are unable to donate, I encourage you to share this link with your loved ones and on social media. Together we can make a difference for this family.
Here is a breakdown of our campaign goal:
$3400 for the high cost of living under war conditions. This will only provide them the bare minimum such as displacement costs and basic supplies & food while they try to save the majority of these donations for the hefty exit fees to Egypt.
$25,000 to cover the cost of leaving Gaza for 3 adults and 3 children and traveling to Egypt once the borders allow it again, a necessary step given the ongoing conflict.
$600 for 6 passports (Bilal, his 3 children, his wife, his mother)
$1,000 to rent a room in Egypt while applying for aid and asylum
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this family, I aim for transparency and can coordinate with Bilal, who does not have regular internet access, on any questions you may have.
We will post updates here.
Update:
Bilal and his girls would like to give a personal thank you to each donor, to show how impactful your donations are to them. Here is their message to you all so far:
FAQ-
How does Bilal receive money?
Every $1000 raised, I withdraw funds from this GoFundMe to wire to Bilal in Gaza (Bank of Palestine, Khan Yunis). My bank charges me 40$ for each wire which I cover, so we have chosen this increment to keep fees down.
How do you know this family is really in Gaza?
I am connected to other organizers whose beneficiaries know this family and were helping them by loaning or passing them money via indirect donations until they were able to get their own campaign. Money was exchanged on the ground in Khan Yunis with a small commission taken from the other beneficiary (since there are no jobs, this is how they sometimes make extra money... By charging for doing favors). I am contact with this family daily, have FaceTimed them, and recieve audios where you can hear the drones, planes, even shelling/bombardment at times. They are civilians, who are sharing their daily struggles with me so that I can properly advocate for them about their conditions.
Why not do a grouped campaign for several families?
Financially: It means losing donation money several times over different bank transfer fees. I cannot cover the fees of several transfers.
Logistically: Many transfers to different parties can be flagged. One transfer to a family to share with the others can result in issues with managing fairness during desperate times. The biggest logistic issue is the constant displacement. A group of families can be quickly seperated due to the unstable conditions and have different needs in terms of transfer frequencies.
