Hope and Healing for Brandy
Donation protected
Update 6/29/18 -Brandy's heart and our hearts are full. I dont think any more donations are necessary at this time for Brandy's care. If people are moved to continue to donate, any and all extra donations will be split among a few wonderful and appropriate charities. I will update amounts to be given and names of charities after we are done figuring costs of Brandy's care. So many updates and thank -you's to follow. But for now I am putting this above the story so there is good visibility. My words feel inadequate ,and my thanks are immeasurable.
With deepest gratitude,Suzanne

BRANDY'S STORY
I am so sorry to share these disturbing pictures with everyone, but it must be done to get the help Brandy so desperately needs. I am sitting here with tears steaming down my face while I attempt my first Go Fund Me page for someone in need, rather than being someone donating. The story is long and sad and there will be a animal cruelty investigation ,so I am not sure how much I am allowed to share here, but I am going for it anyway. This was our neighbors dog and my husband and I removed her this afternoon from the home that she was in when we discovered her horrid living situation and her shocking condition. She is currently at The VCA in Weymouth MA. In the last few months we noticed we were not seeing Brandy outside anymore and we were concerned. We had always been close to Brandy, visiting often and babysitting whenever necessary, last year my best friend and I even stayed with her for over six weeks when the owner was hospitalized. Recently I made calls ,texts and attempted visits ,but all to no avail. Neither Brandy nor her owner seemed to be leaving the house. I would occasionally get a response to a text ,but nothing helpful. Food from the grocery store was being delivered and taken in, but we couldnt get in and they never seemed to come out. Today again, I knocked on the door and finally was let in ... this is how we found Brandy. She ran up to us immediately when we entered the house. It was so shocking that I lost my breath. How she was living is beyond explanation. We kept it cool and calm ,but we were dying inside seeing her health and living conditions. We could barely breath. Feigning nonchalance , I asked the owner if I could take Brandy and that we would take care of her. He said yes, my husband carefully scooped her up and we ran with her in our arms. Every second counted and we knew this ! The owner was not in a good physical or emotional state ,so we called police to come for him and got Brandy to the vet right away ! We rushed her to the vet and after much testing ,an ultra sound, blood work etc. the conclusion is she was being STARVED . We will do everything that needs to be done to help Brandy survive . We contacted Brandy's former Mum who lives almost 2000 miles away. She took wonderful care of Brandy before the divorce . If beautiful Brandy lives through this ordeal , she will be going to live with her Mum. Brandy deserves to live, and to live a life full of love ,comfort, and happiness! Even through the pain Brandy is feeling and the hell she went through, she was still was so happy to see us. Her tail wagged as we carried her outside, away from there and in to our back yard to safety. She leaned in for cuddles and hit us with her paw if we stopped petting her. She laid in my lap and rested her head in my hands while we drove to the vet. She looked at me with her big brown eyes and it seemed she was saying thank you ,thank you, thank you. She knew she was finally safe. and I just cant let her down. Brandy is going to need much more care than her mother can afford at this time. Any amount that you can give will help Brandy in her fight to survive. We were told by the VCA that the estimated charges for just the next 3 days are over 4,000 dollars. There will be a lot of expenses to help get Brandy healthy. This Go Fund Me will cover at least some of those financial needs. ...........................
We have increased the amount needed for Brandy's care. After a visit at the vet today we learned she will be there for several days.................................UPDATE : Brandy's page has wonderfully been shared by many people. All proceeds will go directly toward Brandy's care and recovery.,which will be very expensive. If Brandy is able to pull through, this will be a long process of healing. If people continue to give and there is any left over, all donations will be given directly to charities for rescue dogs in need.We will name the charities if this happens. Thank you to everyone for giving, caring and loving. Please share, donate, and keep Brandy in your thoughts on her long and difficult road to recovery.
With deepest gratitude,Suzanne
