However, in the past six months, Melissa received devastating news – her treatment options for CF in Arkansas were exhausted, and her prognosis was grim. With less than a year to live, Melissa refused to accept defeat. Instead, she embarked on a journey to find hope and a chance at life, leading her to National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado.

The Road to Recovery:

Melissa's determination brought her to National Jewish Health, where she was evaluated by a world-class pulmonary team and offered the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials for CF patients. With immediate initiation of trial drugs, Melissa's body began preparing for a potential lung transplant, a procedure that once seemed inevitable for her survival.

However, the miraculous progress made through her new treatment plan offers a glimmer of hope – Melissa may not require a complete lung transplant after all, depending on how her body responds to treatment. Regardless, her journey to recovery involves frequent trips to Denver for treatment and monitoring, spanning over at least a year.
