Hello,

My husband and I are very thankful for your prayers, care, and support. We are also very thankful for God helping us and giving us strength throughout this time.

Bernadette Hyles and family

Thank you for taking a moment to read our story.

John Albert Hyles (lovingly referred to as “Al” as the Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and Friend to many), has been suffering in the hospital and other facilities since March of 2023. Heart issues, infections, and many setbacks has resulted in him not being able to return to his home for a year. At one point he was pronounced dead after a medical team performed 45 minutes of CPR on him. After most of the medical team had left the room, a family member went over and held his hand. While doing so he suddenly felt his pulse come back! He told the doctor and they confirmed the miracle that he was back! We are deeply thankful to God for His Hand in this.

This has been a difficult journey for our family, but God has been with us every step of the way. We are so thankful for the encouragement and prayers.

This journey has also put a huge financial strain on the family. Al’s wife, Bernadette, has been through many physical trials herself in the past year, with financial, and emotional struggles due to her husband being away from home for nearly a year.

Al’s son-in-love, Bill, has given up thousands of hours of his time to ensure that Al has good care and somebody alongside him and also to care for Al's wife and drive her to visit him. He and other members of the family have contributed as well to the extra costs of what insurance does not cover for rehab facilities and other medical costs throughout the past year. For example, when our beloved Al was at The Ellison John Transitional Care Center, the family was paying $2,000 a week for him to be able to get rehab.

This Go Fund Me is to help the family pay for the costs and care of finally bringing Al home. He has made that very clear that is his wish. To allow the hospital to release him to home, family members have been trained on taking care of him and his extensive medical needs that includes care for his ventilator, tracheotomy, and feeding tube. However, additional paid help is also needed. The cost for just the ambulance ride to his home is $2,500 dollars.

This journey has been challenging. We have witnessed Al recover to be able to talk and laugh and be able to sit in a wheelchair after having been bed-ridden for months. We also saw him dead for 45 minutes and then miraculously (glory to God!) brought back to life. We have heard him referred to as “The Miracle", by doctors and nurses alike. We have also seen him unable to talk or eat, we have seen him mouth “I love you” to us even when he couldn’t talk.

Al is a strong man, and we are so thankful for every day we have with him. Al is the kind of person that can make friends with anyone and whose smile and jokes brighten up any room. He has impacted so many lives and has incredible faith in God. We are hoping to get him home for the first time in a year. We see this as a blessing, but the family needs support to make this happen. This has been a long journey and we have hope for the future.

Please consider supporting the family through financial means, through sharing this page with others, and through prayer.

Thank you again. Your prayers, care, and support are very much appreciated.
