Hope for Angela Cain

On April 11th, Angela was taken to the hospital after her husband, Ryan noticed Angela's speech and behavior was far from normal. Ryan could only describe it as she was talking backwards. After a series of tests and scans, we were told that Angela suffered a stroke. Unfortunately the severity of it was a lot greater than anyone had expected.
The doctors noticed swelling in the brain and it was not going away. Because of the swelling, they completed a procedure called External Ventriculation. This is to help drain the excess fluid. She could have this tube in her brain for a few days or weeks; depending on how well it drains and if it stops the swelling. She will only have a small scar from this, but what's more concerning is what happened to her brain due to the stroke.
The neurologist said that Angela has brain damage to the part of the brain that helps her speak and will definitely have memory loss. Because she will likely not be able to form proper sentences, he suggested that she live in an in-home care facility so that she can receive constant help. They are under the impression that she won't be able to care for herself or her children -- at least not in the foreseeable future.
Between the increasing health care costs and Ryan needing to stay home with the kids & not being able to work, we are asking for any kind of help. These funds will help Ryan and their 4 children (Elijah, Sean, Jon & Melissa).
We will continuously update this page with new information. Angela is loved by many, but most of all her family. They really hope to bring her home -- even if it means waiting and helping her remember who they are <3
(Angela is currently at Queen of the Valley in Napa)
