Summary
Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) has developed a $4 test kit to enable more COVID-19 tests in Bangladesh and is distributing food to thousands of families in need. We want to raise funds to support GK fight COVID-19 in Bangladesh and help the poor.
Recipient of Funds
GK is headed by Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury who is the health care equivalent of the immense financial and social developmental work advanced by Dr. Mohammad Yunus and the late Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.
Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) is a registered Public Charitable Trust and has been serving Bangladesh for almost half a century. GK, a people-oriented healthcare based non-governmental organization, which provides community and institutional services in the fields of healthcare, women empowerment, disaster management, education, agriculture, and basic rights-based advocacy.

How the donations will be used
Currently, GK is accepting support for the following streams towards the fallout from COVID-19:
1. Rapid Dot Blot Test
GK has developed a low-cost rapid detection kit to test for COVID-19 antibodies in 15 minutes and are expected to go into mass production by the end of April. GK aims to produce a million kits in the first month and gradually expand production.
2. Emergency Food Assistance Program
GK is providing emergency monthly food rations to 10,000 poor and marginalized families. Each food parcel contains 15 kgs rice, 5 kgs flour, 5 kgs potatoes, 1 kg onions, 1 kg lentils, 500gm salt, a liter of cooking oil, and a bar of soap. The total cost per parcel is on average BDT 1500.
Funding Mechanism
The donations will be aggregated and then the BDT equivalent funds will be disbursed in Bangladesh directly to GK via a wire transfer.
