Hope for Cailin Campbell: Fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I come to you with a heavy heart to share the news of my sister Cailin's recent diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma. At just 28 years old, she was blindsided by severe chest pains over Easter weekend, which lead to the discovery of an 8-9 cm mass in her chest, nestled between her heart and sternum.
Cailin, is my entire world. She has been my rock through life and boy have we lived through some things together and separately. But we always grew stronger, and our sisterly bond just continues to surprise me. If you have ever gotten the chance to meet or even get to personally know Cailin you know that she is always there to help others, is bubbly, nurturing, compassionate, and is a true empath. Something Cailin truly prides herself in is her independence. However, at a time like this, independence is thrown out the window and the need for support is ever so prevalent. As she now faces a daunting journey ahead with trying to process her diagnosis in addition to undergoing numerous medical treatments, she is having to travelling back and forth from Nelson, BC to Kelowna, BC for radiation/chemotherapy plus other medical appointments (i.e., fertility treatments in Vancouver, BC).
Amidst the uncertainty, there's a flicker of hope - a chance to preserve her dream of becoming a mother. However, the road to this dream is paved with challenges. The aggressive treatment plan ahead, including chemotherapy and radiation, threatens Cailin's fertility. With a heavy heart, she faces the possibility of losing her chance to conceive naturally. But there's a glimmer of hope - the opportunity to freeze her eggs.
Yet, this hope comes at a cost - a financial burden she never anticipated. The price tag for egg freezing (e.g., embryos), ranging from $5,000 to $12,000, adds to the weight of her diagnosis.
In the face of this daunting reality, I reach out to you, our beloved community, for support. Together, we can hopefully ease the financial strain on Cailin and her partner as they navigate this challenging journey. Your generosity could make all the difference in helping my sister preserve her dream of one day becoming a mother.
I humbly ask you to consider donating to Cailin's GoFundMe page. Your contribution, no matter the size, will be a beacon of hope in her darkest hour. Let's rally around Cailin with the love and support she deserves as she embarks on this courageous battle against cancer.
Thank you for your unwavering support and for standing by Cailin's side during this difficult time. With your help, we can turn her dream into a reality.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Shyan L. Campbell
*UPDATE*
The following is a message from Cailin:
“To everyone that has donated their time and money towards my gofundme page, I can’t formulate the words l truly feel for your generous donation. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my life a little easier during such a difficult and stressful time.
For the individuals waiting on health updates with everything…. what l can provide for now is that my chemotherapy treatments will be starting this coming week on Thursday June 20, 2024. All l am asking during this difficult time is for your prayers and positivity, as well as if anyone has any questions or concerns moving forward to please reach out to my sister Shyan Campbell or my partner, Jonah McLaughlin as l will be focusing my energy on fighting this battle moving forward.
Thank you and l appreciate your support, Cailin Campbell”
As Cailin heads into the beginning of her chemotherapy treatments I also wanted to thank you all for your incredible generosity! While we've reached our initial goal ($10,000), donations are still being accepted to further support Cailin and help ease the financial burden.
