Hope For Chauncey

Our rescue is asking for your support with Chauncey's medical care.
Please let me share with you Chauncey's story............
We rescued Chauncey from one of our shelter partners in February of this year. He was surrendered to the shelter in November 2023 by his owner's family after his owner passed away. Chauncey was not adjusting well at the shelter and was displaying negative behavior. Within a few days of Chauncey being under our care, we noticed signs of severe food aggression, reactive aggression when given verbal correction or basic commands, and sensitivity to certain physical handling. It has become a challenge to communicate with him. We were unable to use treats for positive training (due to food aggression) and difficult to work with him without triggering him quickly into fear and attack mode. As a rescue, we do have some experience with these types of behaviors and have been successful with proper training but not to the severity Chauncey is displaying. Chauncey is currently under the care of a veterinary behavioralist with UPENN. With the help of the behavioralist, he has started medication therapy and is showing positive progress with behavior modification training. Unfortunately, with Chauncey's bite history and behavioral concerns, he is deemed unadoptable. He will require a strict structured lifestyle and constant reinforcement training. Despite his challenges, he has become more comfortable in his foster home and his positive personality traits are standing out. He loves playing with his toys, belly-rubs, and hanging out on the couch with his foster family! We believe that we can give Chauncey a good quality of life under our care. With that said, we need help paying off Chauncey's debt accrued and help with the cost of future care. In total, we have already accrued $1500 in debt for his medical expenses. He is on medications long term for anxiety and skin allergies and that averages to about $120 per month. Please find it in your heart to make a generous donation today. We believe in giving our rescue animals our best efforts in hopes of the best outcome! Seeing what much-needed TLC can make a difference in a pet's life is amazing!
