Hope for Cory

Donación protegida
My daughters boyfriend has been fighting cancer for four years now. He is 17 years old and is one of the nicest kids I know.  Cory lives in Chicopee with his mom, Andrea.    This kid has been through so much and it has taken its toll on the family.  Andrea is visually impaired and Cory has always been there to help her every step of the way.  Cancer has robbed this young man of a having a normal life.  School has been interrupted and he is unable to get a job.  He recently was able to attend driving school through the generosity of AAA of West Springfield at no cost to the family.  Cory hopes to be able to get behind the wheel of a car soon and as soon as he is cleared medically he can get his permit and start his on the road classes.  Financially, cancer has made it very hard for the family.  Trips to Boston for days on end are costly, gas and food and other necessities take up whatever money is left after bills.  Our goal is to raise some money for this family so that they can have some peace of mind.  Here is Cory's story in his own works:Hi, I am Cory Blanchard and four years ago I was diagnosed with a cancer called Osteosarcoma.  During that time I went through 9 months of chemo and had reconstructive surgery on my arm.  It was definitely the most difficult thing for me to comprehend at 13 years old. After winning that battle I would go on for a year and a half being cancer free and had no worries.  That all changed August of 2019.  I was diagnosed with cancer again this time it was Rhabdomyosarcoma.  A large tumor was discovered in my back.  I have been going for chemo treatments and many weeks of radiation along with a recent surgery to remove the tumor.  About a month ago I went in for a check up and a scan to see how the tumor in my back was reacting to treatments and I was told the most devastating news that I could imagine.  There were now spots on the outside of my lungs.  I had a biopsy and it turns out that the spots are Osteosarcoma, that had metastasized to my lungs.  I am now looking at more chemo and a lung surgery in Boston.  One of the hardest parts of this terrifying journey for me, is seeing the toll that it has taken on my mom and my grandma.  They have been with me through everything.  They try not to worry me, but being 17 yrs old I know they are struggling financially trying to keep our lives as normal as possible on a fixed income.  They try to make sure that I have everything that I need to heal and fight these cancers.  In the midst of all of this, my mom has been diagnosed with a cyst in her stomach, and will be needing surgery.  She has always been strong for me and I want to help her in anyway that I can, but with my health as it is there is not much I can do.  Anyone who can help or support in anyway would be greatly appreciated by me and my family.
Sincerely,
Cory Blanchard
