Hope for Heather, The Houston Solution
Donation protected
Over 16 years ago, my wife, Heather, suffered her first migraine. Since then, they’ve gradually increased in frequency and intensity, not stopping until she found herself always in pain of varying degrees. This is how she has lived her life for the past several years. She goes to bed with a migraine only to wake up and still be in pain. She has had great doctors support her and she’s tried just about every treatment available, to no avail. We’ve always got an eye out for solutions and we found Dr. Kevin Smith at Smith Sinus Migraine Institute. After much research and prayer we decided to see if she was even a candidate. Praise God, she is!
Dr. Smith was able to identify severe abnormalities in her sinuses. One is very close to, but not touching her brain. Weather pressure changes or there’s even slight inflammation causes the abnormalities to press on nerves causing great pain.
Unfortunately, our insurance denied approval. Suggesting that she start over from scratch with new doctors and get more opinions. She’s already done all of the things and jumped through all of the hoops. So, we are relying on God to provide! Ephesians 3:20 tells us He is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we could ask or imagine. We believe Him!
So many people have said that they want to help her because, well, she’s Heather. If you know her, you know. If you don’t, let me give you a glimpse. She loves people. Whether kids in VBS, teenage girls in youth group, or anyone else she meets. She is all in. People find themselves sharing their hurts, heartaches, and celebrations with her because she listens and she cares. And if it is something that can be prayed about, she’ll be praying with you over it before you walk away.
That being said, if you feel inclined to give, we appreciate any amount. We’ll be in Houston 9 days initially. She’s required to recover a week there and have the first post-op visit before driving home. After that we will need to return back to Houston twice more (hopefully by plane) The estimates we have received place the surgery costs at $12,500. Travel expenses for the three trips to Houston are estimated at $3,500.
More than anything, we appreciate you praying with us and for Heather.
