Kalah's Dual Organ Transplant
Donation protected
When we love people, we want to help them, in any way possible, and the Riley Family deserves our help, both prayerfully and financially. Kalah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes over 20 years ago. Having this disease has not been easy, but she has done it with strength and perseverance. Two things have wreaked havoc on her body the most: the life threatening low blood sugars that have caused her to go into diabetic coma and more recently, some pretty extensive kidney damage. Back in February, she was told she would need a kidney transplant sooner than later. In July, Kalah was put on the UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) list for both a kidney and a pancreas. I doubt she can imagine living her adult life free of the Type 1 Diabetes that has plagued her for more than half her life, but that is her future!
With these life-saving and life-giving surgeries comes great financial need. They have incurred and will continue to incur tens of thousands in medical bills for blood work, doctors visits, her transplant workup and testing, post-op anti-rejection meds and the biggest of all, the transplant itself. Sadly, some hospitals won’t perform the transplant without proof of a sizable savings account. Even with her insurance deductible met, the bills associated with transplants are enormous, and I don’t think the Riley family should shoulder that financial burden alone.
Anyone who knows Kalah knows that she is a fighter. She’s as graceful as she is fierce. She will fight this battle with everything she's got, but she can’t do it alone. Let’s be her army and rally around her and Drew during their biggest battle yet. Please consider donating to them and easing the financial stress they undoubtedly feel. Prayers are also priceless during this time.
