Hope for Khalil - 10yr old struggling with autism

My name is Tamara Powell and I am Khalil’s mom. He is 10 years old, has autism, and is non-verbal. Since the pandemic he has been displaying increased aggression that has intensified over the last four years. He is not able to attend school for more than 2 hours per day, he is physically violent during meltdowns and throws and breaks furniture. When meltdowns are over he craves love and shows remorse and shame for his behaviour. It is heartbreaking to watch, as well as mentally and physically exhausting. For the last few years we have only been able to earn one income because someone always has to be home for Khalil. I am currently off work on medical leave because of the toll it has been taking on me. A week ago I was at my breaking point and thought the only option left was to give my son over to the system, which was breaking my soul.
