Mckennah's Story:
One month after graduating high school, McKennah Carter was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic melanoma. The tumors spread to her lungs, liver, spine and brain. Since her diagnosis, McKennah has been fighting with everything that the best medical facilities the world have to offer. She’s been treated with drug infusions of immunotherapy medications, radiation and BRAF tumor suppression meds.
She’s received 5 Gamma Knife Radiation treatments to her brain which treated more than 50 brain tumors. She has also had 3 craniotomies to treat the brain tumors. She has undergone naturopathic treatments, gamma knife radiation, immunotherapy, intense IL2 clinical trials, radiation and chemotherapy.
After more than a year of treatment in Denver, the cancer grew incessantly. McKennah’s oncologist felt she had given her everything she could offer in Colorado. The doctors told this young, vibrant girl there was simply nothing more they could do for her. She has also been diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease (this is when cancer cells invade the cerebral fluid and circulate in the spine and brain)
McKennah continues to be very positive. She gives credit for her strength to fight from the support of her family, her beloved church family and all the wonderful people who have sacrificed to donate prayers, time and money towards her care.
YOU are McKennah’s Hope! McKennah has an opportunity to have continued treatments from Dr Nezami at Orange Coast Medical Center of Hope. We are asking for your financial support. Any amount helps.
This new fundraiser will assist Dr. Nezami to make his current IV therapy into a Nano solution. A nano particle solution would make a huge difference. It would allow for greater penetration to her brain tumors. Mckennah’s brain tumors have been the deadliest part of the cancer.
Letter from Mckennah's Father:
Good Day,
I would like to introduce you to our 21-year-old daughter, McKennah. Her cancer journey has covered three years and taken her to three counties with minimal success. Recently, McKennah, started seeing Dr. Nezami, at the Orange Coast Medical Center of Hope. She is receiving integrative treatments at the clinic, as well as utilizing some conventional treatments.
We are asking for your financial support. Any amount helps. The funds will provide two things. One is making Dr. Nezami’s current IV therapy into a Nano solution. A nano particle solution would potentially make a huge difference. It would allow for greater drug penetration to her brain tumors which should increase her chances for remission. Mckennah’s brain tumors have been the deadliest part of the cancer. The second would provide valuable research information to improve future Cancer treatments, better outcomes and survival rates for patients with brain metastasis.
One month after graduating high school, in May of 2018. McKennah was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic melanoma. The tumors spread to her lungs, liver, spine and brain. Since her diagnosis, McKennah has been fighting with everything that the best medical facilities the world has to offer. She has been treated with drug infusions of immunotherapy medications, radiation and BRAF tumor suppression meds. She’s received 5 Gamma Knife Radiation treatments to her brain which treated more than 50 brain tumors and 3 craniotomies to further treat brain tumors. Other treatments undergone include naturopathic treatments, an intense IL2 clinical trial, and chemotherapy.
After all this, McKennah’s oncologist felt she had given her everything she could offer in Colorado. The doctors told our young, vibrant daughter there was simply nothing more they could do for her. For us, these facts are hard to reconcile – especially if you know McKennah. She is sunshine in human form. Truly, what I have shared with you is a fraction of what McKennah has endured over the last three years. To say nothing of the impact on us as a family, who have lived this battle each and every day with McKennah.
Recently, McKennah was been given a terribly negative prognosis from her new set of doctors. She was diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease (this is when cancer cells invade the cerebral fluid and circulate in the spine and brain). The months of August, September and much of October where devastating to McKennah’s health. Through a series of events she experienced; weight loss, septic shock, E.Coli infection, COVID, seizures, loss of mobility, most of her sight on right side and partial of left eye and the most disturbing was loss of her memory. Primarily, short-term to intermediate memory was affected. When we brought her home from the hospital the first week of October, she could not remember the home we moved into in July. No place seemed to provide comfort; but she did hold onto faith, family and friends.
During, the month of October, McKennah started treatment with Dr. Nezami. After about 4 weeks of treatment with his IV natural therapy and a positive attitude from all his staff, McKennah is thriving. Her mobility and strength are improving, along with the ability to add some weight back on. Vision field has widened. Daily memories are starting to stick most days or often can be recalled with pictures or small prompts.
McKennah continues to be very positive. She gives credit for her strength to fight from the support of her God, family, her beloved church family and all the wonderful people who have sacrificed to donate prayers, time and money towards her care. But through it all Jesus Christ has been her anchor.
McKennah’s Hope
YOU are McKennah’s Hope! YOU can be a difference maker. McKennah has an opportunity to have continued treatments from Dr. Nezami and his team of medical professionals, who believe they can care for her, where others feel they have nothing more for her.
Our Sincere thanks in advance,
The Carter Family.
