Hope for Nepal's Children

Hello,
My name is Brittany, and I'm embarking on a trip to Nepal in late January 2024, in collaboration with the Nepal Social Impact Association and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). During our trip, we will visit several healthcare facilities that make a significant difference in the lives of Nepali children. Many of these facilities are operated by organisations that struggle with limited funding, and it is my sincere wish to rally support and raise funds to contribute to their invaluable work.
One of the organisations close to my heart is the Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children (HRDC) in Nepal. This non-profit pediatric orthopedic hospital, based in Banepa, serves as a beacon of hope for countless children. HRDC's mission is to provide children with physical disabilities equal access to opportunities and the best possible quality of life. Staffed by dedicated medical professionals, therapists, and volunteers, the hospital works tirelessly to offer essential care and give these children a second chance at life. However, they rely entirely on donations to continue their mission.
The funds we raise will be given directly in person on our trip to directly support various aspects of HRDC's work, including field-based services, hospital services, surgical procedures, physiotherapy, prosthetics, orthotics, and education. During our visit, we will donate 100% of the funds raised in cash directly to HRDC, along with physical donations of medical equipment, children's clothing, and other essential items.
Here's how each donation can make a direct impact:
- $25: This will provide a hygiene kit, inclusive of face masks, soap, and hand sanitizer, along with essential COVID-19 information for a disabled child’s family in a remote area. This kit ensures that these families have the necessary tools to protect themselves from the virus.
- $99: This amount covers the cost of one COVID-19 PCR test for a child set to undergo surgery for urgent conditions. If you're able to give a little more, $198 will fund tests for both the child and their caregiver, ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the procedure.
- $133: Your generosity can give a child the ability to walk. With this donation, a child receives a prosthetic limb, made in-house with care and expertise.
- $500: The pandemic has made it difficult for many families to travel for appointments. A contribution of $500 supports 50 telemedicine calls between families, our four satellite clinics, and our central hospital. This ensures continued care for children who have been treated, regardless of their location.
- $1,207: For children in dire need, this donation can quite literally save a life. This funds one life-changing surgery, providing hope and a brighter future for a child.
