Farewell Sarge

Hello! My name is Claudia, and I am the mother of Kristopher M. Kervin, and our family needs your help!

To us, Kris is a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandson. To others, he is known as "SARGE," the proud United States Marine who served 10 years and fought on the front lines of the Iraqi Freedom War.

Since coming home from the war, he has continued to suffer from injuries sustained while fighting, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Kris is now at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, fighting for his life.

At this time, there is a chance he will be accepted to the liver transplant list. In the past 4 weeks, he has been transported from Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital to St. David's South Austin Medical Center to now the VA Medical Center mentioned above. The doctors are trying to keep him alive so he gets the chance at a transplant. He must also eat and gain strength physically, so they know he can make it through the surgery, and all his recovery will consist of.

To be considered as a candidate, someone is required to be at Kris' bedside from 7am - 5pm daily. Due to this, his wife Jennifer has taken a Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to be by Kris' bedside. This has brought on tremendous financial hardship for Jennifer and Kris to maintain their home and household responsibilities, as well as the extra expenses Jennifer has traveling back and forth to their home in Sheridan, Texas on the weekend to tend to their family dogs and other chores.

As much as we are praying for Kris' life, and his chances for a transplant, we have been told if Kris is not accepted for one, or has another medical emergency, he will be sent home to hospice, requiring nurses, home health care, and other medical necessities until the end.

With that being said, there is no life insurance or money to take care of these daily expenses, hospice, or a funeral, especially since Jennifer is unable to work at all at this time. We are reaching out for financial help. Kris, Jennifer and the family would like to thank each of you for your prayers, love, hope, and support these past four weeks. And, we ask for continued prayers for Kris and his family.
