Hope for Baby Tesla - FHO Surgery Emergency Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Merci and this is my 8-month-old puppy, Tesla that my mom rescued when she was only 8 weeks old. A few months after rescuing her, we noticed she was in pain and was having trouble walking and I could tell she was in a lot of pain.
What we had thought was a sprain or minor injury, turned out to be a hereditary condition called Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head. A condition that requires a surgical osteotomy a procedure in which they will have to remove the femoral head and neck (also known as FHO.) When the part of the affected hip joint is removed, the hope is that her body will lay down fibrous tissue, creating a false joint, and with post-op care (pain management, hydrotherapy and PT), time should heal all and she will be able to walk again.
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head (also known as Legg-Calve-Perthes or Perthes Disease) is a condition recognized in young small/toy breed dogs where the head of the femur (the ball part of the hip joint) losses its blood supply and develops necrosis (the bony tissue dies) and the hip does not function correctly.
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head is very painful. She often holds the affected hind leg off the ground due to the intense pain they experience when it supports any weight. As you can expect the surgery and vet bills are very high, so I started a go fund me for Tesla’s surgery and aftercare to try and raise the funds before her surgery in two weeks.
Most of you already know me, as the empath that is always going out of my way to save the life of an animal. I have and always will do anything in my power to be of service to animals, but today I'm asking for the help of others. I don't want to see my own puppy suffer and the medical attention and Tesla needs simply is not something I can afford right now.
If you can afford to donate we would greatly appreciate it and if you can't please spread this message to your friends and family. Donors and viewers can also follow Tesla's journey online as she recovers from her surgery via this web page.
We thank you for your help and support as we get through this.
